Glasstick, an eminent manufacturer of glass goods, is located in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The company is involved in the manufacture, sales, and trade of glass and glass products(Like-Candle Jars). The products include ones with domestic applications, such as tableware, tumblers, etc. These may also be in use in commercial setups like hotels and restaurants. The company has a wide range of products. Yet, it also has facilities to manufacture customized goods when the need arises from customers. Their major customers are Coca-Cola, Parag Milk Foods, Anmol Industries, Lifestyle International, Arvind Brands, and many others.
Glass production is largely done by either float glass method or glass blowing method. For the manufacture of flat glass sheets, float glass method is used. But, for the manufacture of storage vessels and containers, the blowing method is followed. These storage containers can be as small as glass or as big as a drum.
For the manufacture of candle jars, Glasstick also uses the glass blowing method.
What is done first is the scientific design of the candle jar, based on the requirement put forth by the customer. A decision to store a particular product depends on the shape of the jar. For example, if the pickle jars are not carefully designed, the pickle may get spoilt. A three-dimensional image is modeled after the design is made. For this, different software is used commercially. After the customer is made aware of the design, necessary changes may have to be incorporated. Then, a prototype is made by hand. For this, an oak mold is made according to the client’s requirements. Into this, molten hot semi-fluid glass is poured. To maintain the right pressure in this process, a blower is used. For about 20 seconds, this is allowed to set after the glass is blown in. Then, after slightly warming the mold, another round of glass addition is done. If required, another round of glass addition may be done. After this, it is pressed and the base is made.

The quality control department of the manufacturing unit has to approve this design. After this, the client is required to approve the product design. After the feedback from client is received, necessary steps are taken to modify the design if required. Mass production is carried out after the approval of the modified design.
To manufacture a large number of these jars, a huge automated system is put in place. Sand is the main raw material used in the manufacture of glass goods. About 70-75% of glass is sand. Soda is used to lower the melting point of glass, which is otherwise around 1400 degrees Celsius. Lime is also added in order to help stabilize the mixture. To improve the durability and toughness of glass, aluminum and titanium may be added. This slurry is fed into the melting furnace that operates at about 1500 degrees Celsius. Here, the recycled glass may also be added. This can be in the form of small pieces or bits.

The slurry melts in the furnace at the super-elevated temperature. At this temperature, the glass is sticky and its consistency resembles that of chewing gum. It is left to remain at this temperature, before it is passed through heated tubes to be cut into smaller pieces. Its temperature is around 1200 degrees Celsius now.

The smaller pieces are pressed using heavy pressers and are made flat. To supply air at high pressure, the air blower is used. The center of the flat disc is struck by this air streams and this is strong enough to shape the flat sheet into a jar. The exact design is achieved by using smaller blowers in order to attain perfection in the process. The mold is then cooled. A water-cooled mold is used to encapsulate the jar. The mold opens after a few seconds and the glass is cooled to around 400 degrees Celsius.

At this temperature, glass is relatively cooler but can very easily break. So, it has to be handled delicately. Therefore, a temporary layer is placed on the glass product in order to be able to carry it around the manufacturing unit without causing any damage to it.

The jar is inverted and a torch is used to heat its bottom. This is done for the glass products to get stems and bases. Another round of careful firing is done to shape the bases. It may be subjected to further heat treatment for the perfection of shape. After this, it is left to cool down. Two to three hours may be required for this.
The temporary layer is removed after the glass product cools down. These layers are sent back to the melting unit for reuse. To smooth the sharp corners that may cause wounds, sandpaper is used. But, even after this process, they are very rough to handle. So, the rims are reheated to about 1200 degrees Celsius and immediately subjected to the smoothening process. It is after this process that the glass is safe to handle and touch by hand.
The products are checked for cracks and air bubbles that may be trapped during the process. If there are no damages found, they are packed and sent to the clients.

Candle jars are of important use in our day to day lives. They are a reliable way of handling candles. They help in keeping the use of candles a clean affair by not letting the wax spill out. They also help in enhancing the fragrances of aromatic waxes. Candle jars prevent fires due to accidents that may occur if candles are used without jars.
These jars are used in domestic households. They are also used in restaurants, eateries, bars, and other commercial establishments. It helps in improving the aesthetics of the setups and helps grab customers.
